Miguel Rivera is chair of printmaking at the Kansas City Art Institute. He is a wonderful teacher – gentle and thoughtful. He has a great face and as soon as we met I asked if he’d model for a portrait. You can learn all about Miguel and see some of his work on his web site.
"Miguel" Jan 25, 2012, 77.5 x 44 inches, black and white ink on paper tinted black with sumi.
the portrait underway October 25, 2011 -- this one took a LONG time to complete -- mostly because I was uncertain how far to push back in with black and I became cautious and slow about it.
Miguel in studio - he took two of my Elizabeth portraits to work up in collaboration. I think I am waiting for whatever of his work he provides me... Kinda exciting!
