Deck of Cards Exchange – 2003
The aim of this exchange was to create and print a complete deck of playing cards by using any printmaking media.
46 artists from all over the world took part in this project which saw creation of linocuts, etchings, woodblocks, collages and monoprints printed by the artists themselves using their own original idea based on the number and seed of a playing card.
The exchange took over one year to complete but much to the satisfaction of the coordinators Colleen Corradi and Bette Wappner, it was a complete success.
Deck specifics:
- The deck is formed by 52 playing cards and 2 different jokers.
- The size of each card is 10 x 12 cms and the paper used is of archival quality but of different kinds, as every printmaker made their personal choice.
- The box was made by Colleen Corradi and the colophon was designed by Bette Wappner who added her personal touch to the deck.
